‘Ž–Š’ŒDESCRIPTION

We are pleased to offer this workshop which will provide a grounding in Thematic Analysis (TA) as a method for analysing qualitative data.

Workshop leader: the workshop will be led by Dr Sarah Riley, reader and inter-disciplinary researcher at the University of Aberystwyth and associate editor for the journal Qualitative Methods in Psychology.

What will it cover: The workshop will provide an opportunity for researchers to explore different approaches to, and varieties of, TA and the relationship between TA and other analytic approaches. It will:

  • Start with a discussion of ‘the many questions of thematic analysis’;
  • Explore each phase in the analytic process;
  • Consider different types of code;
  • Reflect on assumptions and standpoints researchers bring to the analytic process.

The workshop focus will be on developing practical skills, so delegates can explore what interpretative analysis entails and the types of questions they might ask to develop a conceptual analysis.

Places are free, but limited, so please register your interest.
